The first tour is in Evia (Euboea) which is an island, approximately 80km from Athens, bridged to the mainland. You will find many excellent PGI** wines in the area and boutique wineries with a variety of medals and distinctions from Greek and international competitions. The cultivated varieties of grapes are international (Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah) as well as indigenous ones such as Malagousia of central Greece and the rare red Mavrokoundoura of Evia.

 

In this tour you will have the opportunity to meet passionate people that will welcome you in their wine philosophy and offer you awesome wines. You will be offered wine spa treatment to fresh your skin and revitalize and at the end you will enjoy local delicacies paired with wine next to the vineyards or inside a cellar. Aigialeia Wine Tour near Athens - € 269,00 per person

In this second tour we will discover the wonders of nature, history, craftsmanship, religion and of course vinification. After 1 hour and a half drive from Athens we embark on the small train with direction to Kalavryta through the magnificent Vouraikos Canyon, considered one of the eight most beautiful train rides worldwide. Upon arrival to the historic city of Kalavryta we will have time to visit the Museum of the Kalavritan Holocaust, walk around and enjoy the beauties of the city.

 

We continue our trip to the famous monastery of “Mega Spileon”, which produced wines during the last century. In complete harmony with the wild and impressive landscape of the area, the eight-storey complex of the Monastery is imposing. Our next stop will be at the “Mega Spileon” vineyards. These are the old vineyards of the monastery, now exploited by a modern winery with premium wines. We will walk through the vineyards, with breathtaking views over the canyon, taste excellent wines and have lunch in the vineyards. 

 

This area has 4 PDO* zones. We will visit the most important location of the PDO* Patras zone in the mountainous region of Aigialeia, producing elegant wines, with high aromatic intensity, coming from the white grape variety Roditis. Other varieties in this region are the whites Lagorthi, Malagousia, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Gewürztraminer. While for the reds we can come accross the local Mavro Kalavritino, Agiorgitiko, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and Pinot Noir.

  • Visit one winery for a unique tasting of local wines.

  • Lunch in the vineyards pairing with premium wines of the producer.
